Owosso Michigan reports the death of James Oliver Curwood a noted author and conservationist after a streptococcus infection. He died at his home Curwood Castle after doctors from Detroit failed a blood transfusion. He was born June 12 1878 and leaves a son James Oliver Curwood Jr and a second wife Miss Ethel Greenwood.

In Grand Rapids area a cottage explosion injures Mrs. Wayne B. Wheeler wife of the Anti Soloon League official. Her father Robert Candy of Columbus dies from shock and Mrs Candy suffers severe shock. Mrs Wheeler is taken to a Shelby hospital.
A Baltimore and Ohio passenger local from Toledo to Cincinnati smashed into a gasoline truck west of Cridersville, igniting a blaze that claimed engineer Lindner fireman Floria and express messenger Davis. Truck driver Smeary survived after leaping clear. Calmed by baggage man Hannum, the wreck destroyed five cars while passengers mostly escaped.
A hail and rainstorm in Windsor Locks Connecticut caused an estimated 100000 dollars in tobacco damage and halted service on the New York New Haven Hartford line between Springfield and Hartford after a culvert washed out.
