In a special meeting the Board for Elections dismissed twenty-five absentee ballots as obviously fraudulent while twenty-one other questionable ballots were accepted for further review by Prosecutor Taft. Several ballots lacked voter registration records amid heavy weeklong office congestion following large new registrations and high absentee turnout.

At South Plainfield New Jersey three men including a former US Air Service veteran were killed when their plane crashed during a loop. The victims were Col. Lé J. Mason 33 of Newark engineer for Public Service Corporation Robert Howell 24 of Newark and Heartshorne Hack 23 of Short Hills. In Roosevelt Field New York two men Jack Bracken 25 and Maurice Sherberger 25 both of Brooklyn died when their aircraft nose dived from 500 feet after an apparent wing failure.
