Lightning melts rings on a woman's hand in storm
In Coffeen Illinois during a thunderstorm Mrs. Frank Neller of St. Louis was struck by lightning. A gold watch chain around her neck melted and four gold rings on her left hand fused into a single piece. An umbrella with a steel rod twisted the rod and her left shoe tore off. She was unconscious for an hour but recovered fully. The bolt also struck the church spire. Mr. and Mrs. Neller sheltered in a doorway.

In Dayton Ohio on August 1 Stephen Gardiner formerly of Middletown walked a square with a revolver under Mrs Jennie White’s command to the Driggs house over a board bill dispute. The gun proved empty and Gardiner left. He later obtained a warrant charging the woman with pointing firearms and breach of peace. she was jailed in default of 200 bond.
