Joseph E. Kundtz a 30 year old heir to a Cleveland furniture fortune died when the rented plane he allegedly spun into a dive near Cleveland Airport crashed. Passenger Leonard Roof survived by parachute jump though Kundtz parachute failed to open. Roof was lightly injured. Kundtz had warned Roof of a thrill and reportedly put the craft into a deliberate spin. Witnesses described the fatal plunge as the craft nose dived from about forty feet. The incident follows a divorce case in which Kundtz had been ordered to pay alimony to his wife Gwendolyn Holcomb Kundtz last June.
