Boston April 26 A 3 million dollar equity suit by Payne, Weber against Albert C. Burrage, Thomas W. Lawson and others over 70,000 Copper Range Consolidated Mining shares was settled out of court between adjournment and today. Payne said Burrage paid the Trimountain debt of 540,000, with the total settlement amounting to about 1,000,000. Burrage had previously paid 300,000 on account and seeks recovery of that sum plus interest. settlement confirms Copper Range’s title to the amount.
Three men found a dead man in Dr Burkhart's hay barn near Arlington Heights just before midnight. Coroner believes the body matches Elmer E. Shappell the Hyde Park butcher missing since Saturday. A .32 caliber revolver was near the body with no identification found.
Detectives Pflug and Heustlein and Night Chief Corbin nabbed a man who gave the name A. J. Treat near Fifth and Vine streets. Held for Indianapolis authorities after a call traced a wanted man from Indianapolis to Cincinnati. The man allegedly passed a $250 bad check at a tailoring firm and a $40 bad check at the Denison Hotel. He had 68 cents when arrested and claimed to be an advertising solicitor.
Two Arnold School teachers uncovered four children under 12 at 413 West Sixth Street living without fuel or food for a day. Judge Moore and Probation Officer Barton investigated. parents John and Mary Schneitner were missing, father in Colorado mining and mother unlocated. A neighbor cared for the 2 year old. charities were contacted for a home.
David Willcox former President of the Delaware and Hudson Railroad died aboard the North German Lloyd steamer Barbarossa in its Genoa Naples voyage. Captain Tangrenter reported the death was by suicide at sea, with Willcox resigning his post prior to the voyage and Leonor F Loree named his successor. Willcox, born 1849 New York, Yale graduate, had held multiple railroad and transit positions and had a history of ill health and a skating accident.

A crowd panics prompting Roosevelt to summon cavalry and artillery to restore order while the Mayflower hosts the President for a naval review of international warships along Hampton Roads.
