The first volume of Kentucky's thirty second annual Insurance Department report shows 114 insurers active as of January 1 1901. Risks written total 226 461 507 with premiums 3 046 910 and losses paid 1 829 228. Stock companies paid 60 percent of premiums while foreign firms paid 61 percent.

Middlesboro Kentucky April 26 Berry Howard recently tried and acquitted on conspiracy in the Goebel assassination was greeted with an ovation by friends on his arrival at Pineville. Several hundred men met him at the train and escorted him to the Courthouse where he was compelled to speak.
