Des Moines River rose fifteen inches in eight hours, flooding Ottumwa and Eddyville. Over three hundred Ottumwa families moved, many by boat. Eddyville reports 150 households evacuated as streets fill with water. Levees breached, embankments undermined, and fears grow of reservoir overflow near Court Hill.
Flood waters from crevasse at Biggs and Reed rises the Tensas River seven inches in a day, threatening Clayton Station with only five feet bank. Black River also climbs. In 24 hours three people died or were gravely injured on Cincinnati, Hamilton & Dayton tracks in Piqua. Henry H. Cotton, 40, brake man from Lima, fell under a southbound train and lost both legs. Wilber Croft, 16, riding with companions, was killed when dismounted from a northbound train. Frank Smith, dropped from a freight train, suffered internal injuries.
The seventy eighth annual Odd Fellowship celebration was held in Evansville Indiana with lodges from Indiana Kentucky and Illinois attending. Several thousand members joined a monster parade and in the evening Mayor Akin welcomed visitors at the People's Theater. Local lodges fed the guests.
Isaac N. Housel a local merchant was found dead today kneeling by his son's grave in an apparent prayerful end. The grim find occurred in Trenton New Jersey with authorities investigating the death.

In New York on April 26 Isidore Weber shot his four year old daughter Josie to death and then killed himself with the same weapon beside the child. Weber a hard drinker came from Tennessee and six years earlier married Lena Huebner in Baltimore. He used his wife and she was forced to leave him. Today he escorted Josie to school as her grandmother consented then drew his pistol and killed both, ending his life.
In Wabash Indiana Henry Bane was awarded $10,000 against Huntington for injuries from blasting sewer trenches. Judge Shively set aside the verdict finding Bane knew the risks and exposed himself to danger, leaving him crippled for life.
Cleveland April 26 Major C F Dick of the National Republican Committee arrived to survey the field for Senator Hanna and Governor Bushnell. He predicted the state convention will unanimously endorse both candidates and expected Lt Governor Jones to be renominated. The convention likely to be held between June 1 and 15 with Hanna's campaign run from the Perry Payne Building under Dick’s guidance. Hanna would seek the prize only if achieved with a dignified fight.
A massive blast rocked the Underground at Aldersgate Station at 5:30 pm. A first class car was destroyed, many injured, some in critical condition, with glass blown out and debris across the platform. Officials cite possible gas ignition but bomb theories circulate.
Karl Gephart wandered Dayton in search of work until he fainted from hunger. He came from Minster with little money, exhausted funds, and refused to beg. Morgan Gross seeks a court-ordered receiver. The scandal spans Memphis, New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago as stockholders meet through the night.
Mrs. W. H. Acklan returned to Wilmington from Washington vowing not to pay more to push her divorce bill and warning of disclosures about a alleged hold up in the Legislature. Friends say officials and Wilmington politicians told her six of nine senators would back her bill for 1000 dollars each. Lawmakers fear a secret investigation and more disclosures may follow as theaatack on legislative dealings provokes a statewide stir.
Washington April 26 A Metropolitan policeman James E Pierce was arrested for robbing two houses on his beat in a fashionable residential area while residents were away. Detectives recovered about 1500 dollars worth of glass clothing porcelain and other valuables from his house. Pierce admitted guilt but would not reveal where the loot was hidden.
In Bismarck on April 26 two Indian boys Paul Holytrack and Philip Ireland confessed to being at the Spicer place on the day of the Spicer family murder. They implicate themselves along with two half breeds Black Hawk and Coddette who are in custody. Public sentiment runs high and all four may be lynched.

Edward Seabarr, about 60, shot himself before a bedroom mirror in Ocean Grove New Jersey. He and wife had allegedly agreed to die together with her to be killed first. Mrs Seabarr, acting strangely, was committed to the Trenton insane asylum after the incident.
George W. Harbour admitted shooting Robert Ross in a Huntington courtroom on April 26, claiming self defense. He testified Ross threatened him with a stone and a hand at the hip after a talk about Harbour's daughter, and Harbour drew his rifle and fired. The defense rests after closing arguments.
Arnold Haller a bookkeeper and former German army lieutenant shot himself in the temple at his boarding house 418 La Salle avenue Chicago today in an apparent suicide attempt. He raised the window and plunged to the ground from about twenty five feet. his injuries are reported to be fatal.
West Oliver shot and killed Martin Rathiel in Rathiel's field near Donaldsonville after a long feud. The killing occurred this morning in Donaldson, Georgia, with Oliver using a Winchester rifle.
Jeffersonville Indiana April Thomas Jones attempts to board a moving freight train on the Big Four route. He misses the handhold and is thrown down an embankment. He is reported to be dying.
