A bold project titled Splendid City will be erected from Burnwam plans to raise wondrous fabric over ashes. The article notes ambitious development, naming Burnwam as the guiding organization and referencing the construction of a new urban landmark.
Reports say a new movement led by prominent citizens and backed by financiers will outline plans to reconstruct San Francisco on Daniel Burnham’s design. The waterfront will be rebuilt with modern depots and new wharves at an estimated cost of 25 million dollars, with parks and a boulevard to follow.

A report from Pendleton Oregon says a battle occurred on the Umatilla Indian Reservation involving cowboys, Indians and troops. It cites three soldiers and three Indians killed, with cattlemen accused of driving stock into a remote area. Indians protested but were resisted. Local rumor places the events at Adams as the nearest point.
