Ohio Penitentiary Fire Kills Hundreds In Columbus
A massive fire at Ohio State Penitentiary in Columbus killed an estimated 305 to 365 inmates and injuries are reported among guards and fire crews. Incendiary origin is suspected as flames spread through cell blocks I and K and other facilities. 122 Victims of Easter Fire Buried in One Grave
In Bucharest on April 21 122 victims of a church fire at Cotesci were buried in a single large grave. Fifteen thousand peasants and villagers attended the rite many arriving on foot others by donkey or horse. Easter eggs fruits and cakes lay over the coffins. One coffin bore the ashes of five children whose mother lay ill in a hospital.
