Four men plummet three stories in an elevator incident. All escape serious injury. the other three are badly bruised and shaken. Rojestvensky is ordered to stay out of French waters amid the neutrality dispute.
The injured include William Hershal, 29, of 612 West Fourth street Harry Cone, 25, of 411 West Ninth street Nathaniel Morgan, 30, of 612 Joseph Bauers, 32, of 612 West Fourth street.
Four Daniel Robinsons street fair workers escaped death as an elevator platform collapsed three stories in Richmond and Plum streets. William Hershal, 29, suffered serious injuries. Harry Conte, 25, fractured foot. Nathaniel Morgan, 30, cut and shaken. Joseph Bauers, 82, survived by wedging on a box.
Nan Patterson will occupy a cell with her sister Mrs. J Morgan Smith in the Tombs prison hospital ward. The arrangement was made by Warden Flynn and will last as long as no illness arises among the women inmates. The pair attended Good Friday services and Patterson’s counsel Levy sought details from a Chicago lawyer about Samuel Eisenberg’s claim of seeing Caesar Young kill himself.
Samuel Eisenberg a Russian Jewish coatmaker says he will travel to New York to testify on the Nan Patterson case. He described a cab scene near West Broadway on June 24 1904 where a man shot himself as a woman clung to him and the cabbie sped away.
Mrs. Emma Silver, 49, of Bond Hill, plunged forty feet from a third floor window at Bethesda Hospital into a muddy trench while mel ancholia. She died within an hour after the fall, suffering fatal internal injuries. Nursing staff and doctors tried to save her. she reportedly asked for something to end her life.
Chicago business agents from forty seven teamsters unions order employers to stop hauling to Montgomery Ward and Co. A looming strike will follow if noncompliance occurs. A midnight blaze tore through the Ste Anne convent at St Genevieve in Jacques Cartier County Montreal. One nun Sister Marie Adjuteur and two nuns Sister Marie Therese and Sister Marie Robertine fought to save children but perished or were fatally burned. Seventeen residents including fourteen children and elderly women died or were injured in the fire.
