In Paducah Kentucky on April 20 a federal court awarded $25 000 to Lee Baker and Nat Frizzell two Negro complainants who testified about the Birmingham night rider raid of March 9 1908. No defense was offered and the judge urged punitive damages up to 25000. Dozens of defendants and several settlements followed with a list of those named in the verdicts and compromises.
