Two private soldiers of the United States Army were sentenced to forty years and twenty six years at hard labor for radical activities aimed at overthrowing the government. The cases, tested in Honolulu, showed attempts to link the branch with Moscow and undermine unit loyalty.
In Hawaii, Private Paul Crouch and Private Walter Trumbull received forty and twenty six year sentences from a court martial for radical activities. They faced charges of forming a secret society and attempting to join the Third International in Moscow. No plot against the government was charged. Patrick Kreps a sleedae staked his taxicab business against the restaurant of a friend and vowed to wed within thirty six hours. He was married at noon today to Agatha Kotollis of New Brunswick New Jersey. William Eichbaum the rival restaurant owner conceded defeat and said he would open a new place across the street to compete. Kreps did not explain how or where he met his fiancee or justify the rapid marriage.

In Claire Wisconsin on April 9 Anna Roehrig 45 shot her mother Gertrude Roehrig in a hospital ward after telling her sister she caused the illness. Anna then killed herself. Insanity is blamed for the tragedy.
