Washington April 8 The House endured late session to clear numerous committee amendments to the Payne tariff bill before tomorrow's final vote. An amendment on iron ore and No 16 gauge steel wire rate briefly passed then was rejected. Chairman Payne urged Republicans to stay, and his amendments were sustained as a calm but tense debate continued until 6 58 adjournment.
