OIL SHARES MOVE AS ISLAND OIL RISES IN NY TRADING

Oil shares led activity on the New York curb as speculative interest shifted from industrial stocks to independent oils. Island Oil moved from 7 to 8 before giving up the gain, while Dominion Oil held at around 144% to 14%.

At the Cincinnati Branch Board meeting Manager L W Manning presented figures on the third Liberty 4s. The report showed 225000 coupons totaling over 1250000 dollars were passed during the month and about 18000 temporary bonds of that issue had been handled and exchanged, making over 75000 pieces processed.

Bank clearings and checks surge in Cincinnati area month

The report shows over 60 000 permanent bonds returned to owners and 130 000 pieces handled. The bank transit department processed more than 35 000 checks daily. Government tax payments exceeded 12 million dollars and transfers to Federal Reserve Banks and government topped 21 million. Total checks and direct to subtreasuries and Treasury surpassed 135 000. Clearings for Cincinnati Clearing House reached 340 249 275 with potential total around 450 000 000. The bank aided regional business, expediting payments and curbing speculative activity.

City Service Bankers Shares declare April dividend rise

The Cities Service Company Bankers' Shares announce a 53 875c distribution for the rod closing May 1. April 1 distribution reached 7 818 stockholders, up 825 from March 1 and 2 280 since Jan 1, totaling a 6 757 gain since April 1, 1919. Cotton Seed Oil Market Dips After Opening Rise

New York April 6 Cotton seed futures showed erratic behavior with a protracted lard led rise followed by a broad market easing. Leading deliveries closed 7 to 11 points lower with 17,000 barrels traded. prices ranged from crude at 16.75 cents to summer yellow around 18.95 cents and July at 19.30 cents with several contracts remaining nominal.

Turpentine and Rosin Prices and Stocks Reported

In Savannah on April 6 a turpentine firm reported $2.33 sales for 23 barrels with 6 barrels receipts and stock at 1,150 barrels.
