Chicago April 5 four figures dubbed the four horsemen of the Republican Apocalypse in Illinois are Len Small Frank L. Smith Crowe and Thompson. They are allied to keep control of Chicago and Illinois politics pooling forces to back America First and draft Coolidge funds. They aim to build power through machine politics with Small as master builder Crowe as state attorney Thompson as organizer and Smith seeking a path to the Senate.
Col Sherrill city manager paid a $2 fine after a car owned by him and his wife was parked with a non functioning tail light at 237 Walnut Street. He signed his wife's name to the tag and told Rotary Club members he would pay the fine this afternoon.
Judge Dennis J. Ryan urged death for burglary of an inhabited dwelling with assault as a deterrent. He favored swift punishment and a Baumes like life after third offense, noting youth offenders need probation or segregation to reform and return to society.

His left thigh bone was broken. The driver was arrested on reckless driving charges. Patrick McGregg 25 a carpenter of 2427 Dover street suffered head and abdominal injuries when the car he was driving crashed into a loading platform at East Sixth street. Both men treated at General Hospital.
Emporia Kansas April 5. William Allen White accuses D A R leadership of linking with the Ku Klux Klan in a blacklist issued without the National Board's approval. He names the National Catholic Welfare Council League of Jewish Women and the NAACP as targets. He likens the D A R to a hooded Klan figure in respectable circles.
Florence Knapp former New York Secretary of State is indicted by a special grand jury on six counts tied to affairs in the 1925 state census. She faces three felonies for false audit and payroll certifications one felony for grand larceny and two misdemeanors for false affidavits. A bench warrant may be issued if she does not appear by ten tomorrow.
A fire at Standard Oil's Regla refinery sparked four explosions after 10 PM. Two hundred sailors from the battleship Wyoming assisted in firefighting and evacuations as 11 crude oil tanks burned and officials pegged losses over 2 million dollars.
Mrs Catherine Hill 22 of Maysville Kentucky attempted suicide by poison in a rooming house at 220 Broadway with husband Carl Hill a cook at the Famous restaurant on Broadway near Pearl street. Doctors report her condition critical. she said I have fallen arches and can't work like other women following a quarrel with her husband.
Four year old George Edward Miller was kidnapped by two women in Philadelphia and returned to his parents within a day. He was found in Market Street wearing a new suit, shoes, hat and underclothes, carrying his old clothes and the items his captors bought. Police consider two theories: mistaken identity or a thrill ride.
John D. Ryan agreed to sell Montana Power Company to American Power and Light Company, a unit of Electric Bond and Share Company, at a price described as above 82 million dollars. Ryan said he and the directors would recommend shareholders accept the offer.
Washington April 5. Senator Guy D. Goff of Clarksburg West Virginia entered his name as a candidate for the Republican presidential nominations in the May 29 primary in his state.
Syracuse juror Marshall A. Bishop leaped from a courthouse jail window tonight after complaining of nervous indigestion. He was a resident of Lafayette and had served on a murder trial jury.
Carroll Jensen 22, a Sleepy Eye, Minnesota native and UC co op student, was arrested by Cincinnati detectives for petit larceny after siphoning gasoline from visiting cars at Christ Hospital. He admitted to stealing gasoline since January, using a five gallon can and siphon. He will be arraigned in Police Court on the Marcony charge.
