The governor plans sweeping new law to hasten cleaning and reconstruction in numerous Ohio towns in Flood Zone A. The measure aims to speed debris removal, rebuild infrastructure, and bolster flood defenses across affected communities.
Officials say 454 lives were lost in last week's Ohio flood and 77 133 people require aid or rehabilitation. Findlay is not included in the tally though it reported deaths and homelessness.
Governor Cox announced emergency legislation to place three Ohio cities under a commission form of government to coordinate cleanup, rebuild bridges, and finance rehabilitation. Mayors may appoint five member relief commissions with power to borrow. state commission approval required. If mayors refuse, state relief authority steps in. Senator Pomerene to introduce a congressional resolution for $2.06 million in flood relief.
Mrs. Oscar Olson, connected to Clyde N. Darling, testified about her relations and confessed. She suffered a serious breakdown after yesterday’s testimony. The trial paused for special matters and will resume Monday with Mrs. Olson again on the stand.
