Marion Indiana April 2 Mrs Rose Vardeman was rearrested after a jury found her not guilty yesterday on shoplifting. Warden viol Woods in jail confessed to guiding police to a cache of fine dress goods and hats hidden around the Vardeman home implicating several other women in thefts across the city. The trial had seen Vardeman surrounded by four young children whose presence reportedly influenced jurors toward acquittal.
Everett Roby faces a preliminary hearing with Julius Bernstein and another suspect in Columbus New Jersey. Roby has made a partial confession to Inspector Oldfield but fears Burglar Jim and has not signed a full statement. His sister urged him to reveal all as police press for details.
