In Troy Alabama on March 21 Richard Hale and Thomas Johnson white men and Sam Rives colored were hanged for the murder of Mrs Ira Meyers and her daughter-in-law Mrs E Meyers at Josie last December. Robbery motivated the crime and a jail escape plan was thwarted last night.
In Frankfort Kentucky on March 31 infants of Mr and Mrs Edward J Lynch of Louisville died this afternoon from morphine overdose given by a nurse who believed the bottle held soothing syrup Mrs Lynch is the daughter of Mr Henry Gobber of the city.
Passenger steamer Stella struck Casquet Rocks in heavy fog near Alderney and sank within minutes. Forty to sixty lives reportedly lost, with survivors rescued by Lynx and Honfleur and landed at Guernsey. Captain perished guiding passengers to boats amid orderly evacuation.

A German naval patrol faced Chinese fire near I-Chau. the German admiral plans reinforcements to restore order while three magistrates are dismissed to ease friction.
In Muncie Indiana last night George Brooks his wife and two daughters on West Charles street drank water from their home well and became nauseated. A visiting friend drank more and grew ill. The family suspects pipe impurities and boiled water with a foul odor. A tramp had threatened revenge after being refused aid. A white powder was found in the well area but nothing saved. Prompt medical help saved all lives.
In Akron Ohio on March 31 the body of an unidentified man about 45 was found on the Erie Railway track with the right leg severed the right hand fingers missing and a severe head wound. The body had been dragged about a half mile before discovery.
Officials express deep disappointment over Aguinaldo and Philippine leaders escaping into guerrilla fighting. The capture of Malolos is not enough to end rebellion, as losses mount in Luzon while awaiting ratifications of the Spanish treaty and possible pacification efforts.
