The Japanese government, in a note dated October 1, seeks a new treaty that would grant Japanese citizens the right to own land in the United States. Albany October 1 At midnight Governor Sulzer decided to go on the witness stand and issue a full statement. He said he would go down the middle of the road and spare nobody not even himself. His lawyer urged caution as cross examination looms and new adverse testimony may be introduced.
Panama October 1 water was released from Gatun Lake through four 24 inch pipes under the Gamboa dike toward the Culebra cut. At the present flow rate the five mile stretch between the slide and dike will be filled to about 15 feet by October 10, the scheduled destruction date of the Gamboa dike.
