Dryden paper mill funding tied to mercury remedy pledge
MPP Sol Mamakwa argues the Dryden Fibre Canada mill must condition NEAP funding on measures ending mercury pollution in Grassy Narrows and Waubeseemoong. The mill, owned since 2028, previously dumped nine tonnes of mercury into the Wabigoon River, with lingering contamination and a May study linking effluents to methylmercury formation. The company says it operates under strict environmental rules after taking ownership.
