Officers Fell Guilty Shield Legal Fees Shifted
Under a collective agreement the Thunder Bay Police Service Board must cover legal costs for officers charged with a crime who are acquitted or have charges dismissed. If found guilty, the officer pays. Board secretary John Hannam noted the board budgets for such expenses, with last year’s legal account around 50 000 dollars and actual spending near 30 000. Dimini faces further trial on related charges, though none have been proven yet.
