Canada Post faces looming Friday strike by workers union

Canada Post could halt mail Friday after the union of more than 55,000 postal workers issued a 72 hour strike notice. A stoppage would stop new items and delay deliveries of bills, with exceptions for social assistance cheques and live animals, while backlogs from earlier disruptions persist. The union cites unilateral changes to conditions and benefits as a trigger, and calls for new contracts for about 23,000 mail carriers.
