WSIB changes target seasonal migrant workers compensation
Ontario will overhaul how it calculates compensation for injured seasonal agricultural workers. The WSIB currently pays 85 percent of pre injury wages while deducting earnings from other work, a rule critics say shortchanges migrant workers who return home after injury. The WSIB is reviewing 50 older claims and may issue retroactive payments, aiming to align benefits with workers actual earning capacity in their local labor markets.
