Inclusive playground rises in Vickers Park Thunder Bay

Work begins in Thunder Bay at Vickers Park on an inclusive accessible play structure with a tree fort inspired design. City officials expect completion by late June ahead of the Teddy Bear Picnic in early July with a grand opening possible if conditions align. The $1.1 million project, funded by the city after a supply chain delay, adds two accessible parking stalls, concrete walkways, a rubber surface, a shade structure, and refurbishment of the turtle play structure while keeping existing swings open. Vickers Park, donated in 1902, remains a heritage property on Fort William’s south side.
