Rural areas receive funding to boost emergency readiness
Provincial funding aims to help rural Thunder Bay municipalities prepare for natural disasters and spring wildfires. Conmee, Nolalu Emergency Services, Oliver Paipoonge, O’Connor, and Neebing share grants ranging from 47 500 to 50 000 dollars to bolster fire and search and rescue capabilities and to ensure residents have reliable water, heat, and power during emergencies. The program totals 110 million dollars over three years for emergency response initiatives.
