Unions Push Input on Paramedic Equipment Standards
Unions representing more than 12 000 Ontario paramedics say they were excluded from talks on equipment standards. In a Dec 3 letter to Health Minister Sylvia Jones unions urge inclusion of democratically certified paramedic workers, noting a province wide shortage in northern and rural areas. A Ministry response was not immediate. The NDP calls for a task force to tackle funding recruitment and training to ease the shortage. Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association had urged full provincial funding for northern ambulance services.
