Tree of Hope lights Parliament Hill to honor MMIWG2S victims

Thunder Bay Police Chief Darcy Fleury led a Tree of Hope lighting on Parliament Hill to raise awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous women and two spirited people. The event, created by Const. Sharlene Bourdeau, was joined by Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu and elders as a nationwide call for action and unity.

Hobbs lawsuit move seeks dismissal of claims

Ontario counsel and three OPP investigators move to strike parts of the civil action filed by former Thunder Bay mayor Keith Hobbs and his wife Marissa Hobbs and Mary Voss. A virtual hearing before Justice Robert Centa reviewed summary judgment grounds and timing. Keith and Marissa Hobbs along with Voss were charged with extortion in 2017, found not guilty in 2019, and the couple sued in 2020 for false arrest malicious prosecution negligent investigation harassment defamation and charter breaches.

Nuclear courage hailed as NWMO hosts spark in Ignace
