Trails group dispels rumour about ATV access near Thunder Bay
The Northwestern Ontario Recreational Trails Association says trails planned around Kakabeka Falls to Shabaqua remain open to ATVs on Crown land and will not ban motorized traffic. Len Day notes some routes are foot-traffic oriented but existing and proposed trails allow vehicle use where land managers permit. An open house Tuesday at Nolalu Community Centre will outline phase three of the Pigeon River trail, route changes, and extensions to the Shabaqua and Kakabeka Falls trails. The group aims to secure funding after being deemed candidate ready by the Trans Canada Trail system.
