Vatican to host world as Pope Francis funeral gathers
Canada's ambassador to the Holy See Joyce Napier says Rome will be the caput mundi at Pope Francis's funeral with 250000 mourners expected. Ottawa will lead a large delegation including Gov Gen Mary Simon, Whit Fraser, and 135 delegations with 50 heads of state. Napier notes the pope's outreach to Indigenous peoples, his humility, and ongoing Vatican-Canada dialogue on refugee, climate, and LGBTQ issues.
