Pike Sandusky and Johnny Curry Sit in Montana Legend

In Phillips County Montana a wind swept plateau holds two graves near Sandusky. Pike Sandusky founder of the town and Johnny Curry brother of Kid Curry lie buried after years of frontier fame. Sandusky famed for generosity and fierce temper survived a Sioux kidnapping and a fatal shootout that ended when Kid Curry killed him in Sandusky's saloon. Johnny Curry, once armed with a rifle seeking to kill rancher Jim Winters, was killed in a later feud and avenged by Kid Curry. The piece traces Sandusky's 1860s trapping days with John Wirt, near the Musselshell, and Sioux encounters culminating in a legendary frontier life.
