The Farmington nonpartisan group held a Monday meeting with M. McCusker outlining the party platform. Local candidates attended and were pleased with the outcome. Dr McGregor Roy Inbody and H R Thompson spoke. an October 12 Chateau gathering with Burton Wheeler as lead speaker was announced.

Public School Reports Bright Month Attendance
Last Friday marked the end of the first month with 182 pupils present, a strong showing for a school over 200. The third grade had perfect attendance, tardiness is led by one fifth grader, and several grades had no absences. Certificates reward consistent attendance, while half holidays and privileges encourage daily presence. A Health Crusade promoting hygiene shows favorable results among pupils. There are 216 pupils enrolled, 107 girls and 109 boys, with new football and baseball equipment in use from daylight to dark.

In the district court of Teton county last week a divorce was awarded Mrs. Cora Mable Buchanan from husband Percy Buchanan on desertion and extreme cruelty. She received custody of three minor children Ruth Mable Buchanan 11, Joseph Westwood Buchanan 8, and Mauriel Jeanette Buchanan 4.

Haywood Sentence Affirmed By Court
The United States Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of William D. Haywood and 93 I W W members for obstructing the draft during the war. Two counts were tossed out while the rest of the lower court’s verdicts were affirmed. Haywood and 14 others received 20 year prison terms plus fines up to 35 000. many have already been freed on bond while appealing.

Noted Attorney Reynolds Seeks Montana Supreme Bench
Frank B. Reynolds, a prominent Montana civic worker and attorney, is the Republican nominee for a two year term as associate justice of the state supreme court. He left Michigan after a successful probate judgeship and Coldwater practice to settle in Billings, later gaining wide influence in church and civic circles. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1895 and built a thriving practice before moving to Montana.

Gilmore Sentenced To Penitentiary
Walter Gilmore a young colored section hand was sentenced in district court to not less than one nor more than two years in Deer Lodge penitentiary by Judge J. J. Greene after pleading guilty to first degree burglary for stealing a small sum during a Fairfield store burglary. He was transported to the penitentiary by Bert Christie, a special deputy sheriff for Sheriff Martine.
