Last Contingent Leaves for Camp Lewis
The fourth and final contingent totaling 17 men leaves Chateau for Camp Lewis Washington to fulfill Teton's 194 soldier quota. Alf Wangnild led the unit, selected by Sheriff Miller of the local board. A Sunday banquet at Glenloyd hotel honored the departing troops with toastmaster Senator T O Larson and remarks by community leaders and soldiers.

Y M C A War Fund Campaign Drives Local Support
The Y M C A appeals during November 11 to 17 to raise 35 million nationally for camps in the United States and abroad including England France and Russia and enemy prison camps. Teton county is asked to contribute 2500 and Chateau area 700. Local leaders J E Ritchey Conrad chairs county drive with James Ickford Chateau vice chair and a dozen committee members. Four minute speakers at Royal theatre over the weekend explain needs and subscriptions start Monday. Last week H A Templeton and L H Fox spoke to a small audience. Chateau’s share is already half subscribed. The YMCA aids soldiers with recreation reading material letter writing rooms and wholesome entertainments at training camps and requests strong local support.

Feland Dies After Illness on Spring Hill Farm
Dan J. Feland of the Spring Hill area north of Bynum died at his home on Friday November 2 after a long illness. An autopsy revealed stomach abscess as the cause. He had sought relief at hospitals and with physicians but diagnosis was late. Funeral services were held at Bynum Tuesday by Rev. Kelley. His remains were shipped to Grand View Missouri for burial. He is survived by a wife and a ten year old daughter.

The Parent Teachers Association met Tuesday evening in the high school auditorium. A curfew proposal for Chateau was discussed with the city council. The program featured Keep the Home Fires Burning and several performances by local groups and students.

The masquerade dance drew a large crowd last Friday. Examinations were graded Monday with report cards issued that afternoon. Basketball begins Monday as locker rooms and showers near completion. Upper English classes study classics. freshmen prepare for a ticket contest. The glee club meets tonight for practice.
