Man jailed again for writing worthless checks in county
J Hanson, recently released from a 30 day stint for issuing bad checks at Bynum, was rearrested within hours after reoffending. Justice DeHaas sentenced him to another 30 days with alternating bread and water and regular fare, suspended for one hour on condition he leave the county. The report notes he was last seen heading south toward the Mexican border.

Captain Walter Verge of Company M N G M received a telegram from the adjutant general ordering readiness for possible duty in Butte after a riot. A countermand followed, then a later order, and the militia assembled for a couple of days though the situation subsided. The Butte trouble stemmed from Miners Union factional fighting with union hall desecrated and the union president attacked.
