Great Falls land office reports 555 657 acres of surveyed and unsurveyed public lands in Cascade Chouteau Fergus Hill Lewis and Clark Teton and Toole counties. For the year ending June 30 filings total 3 806 with final proofs rising to 3 996 for 1915 1916 June. June filings fell from 195 to 141 while final proofs jumped from 227 to 950. Overall, activity remains brisk with total business only about five percent lower than the previous year.

The Montana State Fair in Helena September 25 30 expects a record cattle show. Inquiries drive plans to add two 200 foot barns with 40 stalls each to accommodate more entries as disease fears fade and dairy and beef cattle breeders forecast strong competition.

Hughes to Launch 7000-M mile Pacific Campaign Tour
Charles E. Hughes plans an early August start for a five to six week presidential campaign trek. Death of F H Federhen a Dupuyer resident
Frank H Federhen longtime Dupuyer resident died Tuesday at McGregor hospital after years of illness. A Massachusetts native aged 61, he served as a battalion sergeant major in the 3rd U S infantry during the 1876 New Orleans riots and later moved to Montana. He worked as clerk and bookkeeper for J W McKnight, served as local U S commissioner and justice of the peace, and was highly esteemed. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the city with Rev L F Haile y officiating and burial in Chateau Cemetery. Pallbearers: E C Garrett J E DeHaas A Co W F Stainaker.

Lightning strikes Armstrong home as storm rages
A bolt struck the residence of T S Armstrong in Teton County Sunday evening, blasting through the chimney and tearing a hole in the floor. Several people were shocked or injured but all are recovering, with miraculous survival amid shattered room and flying debris.
