Wool clip in Montana forecast at 16 million pounds

Wool buyers and leading sheepmen in Montana foresee a 1920 wool clip of 15 to 16 million pounds, signaling about 2 million sheep in the state. The county by county declines show major producers retiring, with new owners not offsetting the drop. The trend mirrors wider losses in other states, potentially affecting wool prices.

Butte Could Become Montana Cattle Market, Roberts Brothers Claim

O B Canfield of Wisdom cites Roberts Brothers Spokane stockyards on a shoestring and a $10,000,000 last year business to argue Montana needs a central market in Butte. He says local stockyards would keep cattle in state, reduce freight, and benefit ranchers statewide through year round feeding and reloading.
