Cox Nominated President At Democratic Convention

In San Francisco the Democratic National Convention nominated Governor James M. Cox of Ohio for president after a 44 ballot struggle. The motion by Sam V Amidon of Kansas to make Cox's nomination unanimous carried at 1 43 a m. Mc Adoo forces were unable to derail Cox despite persistent opposition. The convention adjourned until morning.

Governor Stewart Drives First Rivet for Montana Battleship

Governor Samuel V. Stewart of Montana today ceremonially drove the first rivet in the battleship Montana at the Navy yard Vallejo California. He attended with Secretary Daniels and 20 convention delegates after a visit and luncheon. The rivet was later set by workers.

Givens Ranch Sold Near Chateau by McDonalds

The Mepaught Givens Ranch of about 4000 acres on the Teton River west of Chateau was sold to Ed Ellis of Augusta for roughly $100,000 in cash. Personal property was not included, leaving the McDonalds with sheep and cattle interests to run in Teton county. McDonald plans to remain in Montana and continue residing locally.
