Oldest Montana postal employee faces retirement after 38 years
Billy Bishop, 78, a long-time Helena post office official, is slated to retire under a 65 age rule despite appeals by Helena officials to Washington. He has served through the South Main Street office era and earlier locations, with 30 years yielding a maximum pension of 60 dollars a month. The department denied retention beyond the near 40-year tenure, and Bishop begins vacation while retirement looms. In other news a Polish counter offensive with bayonets near Pultusk north of Warsaw challenges Russian advances.

Radiium Mine Near Kalispell Claims First Deposit Found
Dr C H Stanley and seven partners filed claims for a radium deposit discovered in the mountains near Java along the Great Northern railroad east of Kalispell. Stanley reports detection via fluorescent screen and notes the rock near the site emits strong rays casting his shadow from about 100 feet underground. A ranger once found a rock that sparked when moved, later tied to the same radium site.
