District Court Sentences Five Men to Ten Years in Penitentiary
In district court last Saturday Dr. C W Dawe was sentenced to ten years for manslaughter in the murder of Charles Clifford near Walier last November. James Johnson of Cut Bank also received ten years for manslaughter. George W Blair pleaded guilty to grand larceny and got one year. John Ewing and Charles C Martin were found guilty of various charges and each given one year. C P Mellon, a hobo, pleaded guilty and was sent to Deer Lodge for one year. Manchus Johnson was convicted of assault in the third degree and faces sentence today. All six prisoners were moved to the penitentiary by Sheriff McKenzie.
