Annual FU Meeting Elects New Officers at Moose Hall
The annual FU meeting drew about 115 members and guests to the Moose Hall for a pot luck dinner. Rev. A. B. Grandal opened with prayer and the pledge as the nation’s anthem sang, noting September’s stars and stripes. Local kids crafted displays while teachers aiding camp were introduced, and a program directed by Mrs. Gordon Monkman featured trumpet solos, piano duets, a trumpet solo by Marie Vance, and a reading Do You Vote.

Balloting on Lagoon Sewer Bond Set for November Vote
Qualified electors of Chateau head to the polls on November 4 to decide a $70 000 sewage bond issue. The prior September 10 election failed for low turnout and insufficient votes to meet the required 40 percent of registered voters. Balloting will occur at Chateau grade school for First Ward and at the Teton county courthouse for Ward Two with separate booths and city election judges conducting the special bond vote.

Service Pins Granted to Veteran Montana Fish and Game Staff
The Montana Fish and Game Commission awarded service pins to three long time department staff members in recognition of their years of service. FUSE Of Vemie Bid May be Granted the Fate
The Montana Supreme Court granted Frank R. Dryman's request for an alternative writ directing the Ninth Judicial District Court of Toole County to show cause why the High Court's order for change of venue should not be carried out. The court set a response date of Sept. 30. Dryman, twice sentenced to death for the murder of Clarence E. Ellett, faces a new trial date of Oct. 25 in Teton County. A new trial was ordered for April 29. the court remanded for trial in a county not adjacent to Toole.

Hal Ferris Dies Former MDA Manager Here
Hal K Ferris Walter former manager of the Choteau office of the Montana-Dakota Utilities Co dies Monday at St Marys hospital in Conrad after a lingering illness. He also served as manager in Conrad before moving to Choteau and later Valier. Born Aug 28 1896 at Frankfort S Oak he grew up in Collins and homesteaded near Choteau. He belonged to the Choteau Volunteer Fire department the Moose Lodge Odd Fellows Encampment. Survivors include his wife Valeria of Valier two sons Kenneth of Choteau a brother Jack and Ben of Chicago and in laws in Alberta. Funeral was held in Conrad with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Gravesite rites by Chateau Lodge No 415 Moose Lodge. Active pallbearers listed.
