Paulina Dittus Services Held in Trinity Church

Services for Paulina Sophia Dittus were held Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church Chateau with burial in Highland Cemetery Great Falls. Rev Marlow Engberg officiated. pallbearers included Ben Lang Glen Smith John Dolke Jake Schmidt Herbert Schmidt Harold Phelfle. Dittus, born May 3 1896 in Artzir Russia, lived in North Dakota Fallon Power Chateau Great Falls and Minot. survivors include sons Otto Emmett Milan John and daughters Regina Walley and Ann Svotash.

New Equipment Improvements Made at Hospital Teton Memorial

Over four months Teton Memorial Hospital added smoke and fire doors fans air ducts rain gutters and met health department requirements. In August a state health survey for 1971 found the hospital favorable with minor corrections. Future plans include air conditioning in operating and delivery rooms lab and x ray departments new lab equipment and a wheelchair to improve staff efficiency.

Nels Hemstad To Attend Helena Meet

Representative Nels Hemstad will join the Subcommittee on Public Welfare for a Helena meeting on September 28 at 10 am. The four senator four representative group will hear from probation and foster home administration advocates and state agency officials. The session in Room 410 at the State Capitol is open to the public with details from Mrs. Rose Weber.

First Snowfall Hits Teton County Residents

Teton County woke to their first winter taste as wet snow covered the ground and branches broke under weight. Temperatures dropped below freezing ending most flowers for the season with reports of minor auto challenges due to falling limbs.

Choteau Scouts Honored At Court of Awards Ceremony

The Choteau Boy Scout Troop 51 held a court of honor with seven scouts advancing in rank and many merit badges awarded. Charles Nauck earned Life Scout, Wally Chane and Pat Scott reached Star, Le Roy Hanson and Keith Van Setten earned Second Class, Tim Brumberger and Lance Patton earned Tenderfoot. Thirty-eight merit badges were listed for numerous scouts. Special awards were given for Camp Napi attendance and a 50-mile back-pack trip to the Bob Marshall Wilderness. An Eagle Court of Honor followed with Fred Tesch and Carl Wisse earning Eagle badges.

Three Accidents in County Leave Two Injured

Highway Patrolman Dick Chase investigated three crashes in Teton County last week. Two people were injured and hospitalized, and five vehicles were damaged. The first crash near Power involved a Cadillac and a pickup, with one citation for improper pass. The second crash near Fairfield totaled a pickup and injured its driver and passenger. The third crash on U S 89 caused significant damage with no injuries. severe road slush contributed, and the Graf vehicle was cited for excessive speed for conditions. Bulldogs Fall Hard to Malta in Home Opener

Police Chief Leon Gollehon led discussion with the City Council on hiring a fourth officer to create a four man police force with 40 hour weeks and two days off in succession. Overtime for on call ambulance duties will be paid at overtime rates. radar and speed enforcement were debated along with bids for a new police car to be opened at the Oct. 4 meeting. Antler Robber Still at Large

The man who robbed the Antler Bar and fled with 1700 remains at large per Teton County Sheriff. He is thought to have left Montana and is possibly in Washington. Paroled from Montana State Penitentiary last July after a four year term for vehicle without owner's consent, he wrecked a pickup and evaded authorities after the holdup. The stolen gun was recovered in Great Falls.

Dr M Johnson Becomes Charter Diplomate Of ABFP

Dr Marcus Alan Johnson of Chateau Kansas City has been named a charter diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice after passing a two day written exam. About 3,285 doctors earned diplomate status nationwide making family practice a new specialty focused on comprehensive continuing care. The ABFP requires ongoing competency every six years and honors charter diplomates from the 1970 first exam and this year.

Pass Punt and Kick signup ends soon at Choteau Ford

Chateau High student named National Merit Semifinalist

Principal Dan Ferriter announced that Scott Swanson, a Chateau High School senior, is among 15,000 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists for 1971-72. Semifinalists, top scorers from 655,000 tested, compete for about 3,000 scholarships next year. The program recognizes high academic achievement and potential future leadership.
