The Cut Bank squad, last year’s district champions, are expected to be strong despite graduating many lettermen. The night game starts at 8 o'clock with Chateau fans likely in attendance.

The state board of health logged 26 new influenza cases in Montana last week followed by 16 new mumps cases. Communicable diseases have been at the year's low ebb for several weeks, the board noted.
The Teton county Chautauqua committee and Recreational Society met to finalize the October 20 21 22 program. A historical pageant titled To You from Failing Hands We Throw the Torch by A L Johnson will open the first evening, with a site theme America Grew Great by Vision.
New school year brings election of officers for Teton Chapter FFA. James Rose named president with James Hightower and Glenn Stott as top officers, Earl Nelson treasurer, Leon Anderson secretary, Clark Inbody reporter, George Kochman leads scrapbook. Greenhands receive pins at Sept 20 meeting after a guest initiation with a snack feast.
A county wide agricultural planning meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 20 am in the courthouse. The chairman of the community committee invites county farmers to attend and contribute. Nine special problem committees will discuss land use credit tenure farm size erosion water use range management pest control social issues and weed control as part of a county planning program.
Dr. H. W. Bateman Eminent Commander and James T. Robison P C Recorder of Bethany Commandery No 19 Knights Templar attended the funeral of Samuel V Stewart in Helena last Monday afternoon. The Knights Templar served as escorts at the largely attended service with friends from across the state. Ladies from Chateau including Mrs H W Bateman Mrs Arnold Hanusa Mrs Wayne Gilette Mrs George Jackson Mrs Katherine Murphy and Miss Alva Larson also attended.
Mrs. Joe Hein, a pioneer of Teton county who moved from Dupuyer to Florida, died September 2 in DeLand, Florida, after a cancer illness. Born in Atlanta, Ga, she settled in the county in 1888, married that year, and her husband later died in 1936. The Hein family retired in 1925 and relocated to Florida. surviving daughter Mrs. Bernard Clifton also remains.
An infant and preschool conference will be held at the Greenfield Community Center on September 28 at 1 30 p m with Dr L S Crary in charge. Appointments are filled for the first conference and future slots will be scheduled by county nurses Hazel Rendicker and Ruth Peffley for residents of Teton and Cascade counties respectively. Vaccinations offered free of charge include smallpox and the first diphtheria toxoid dose with a second dose three weeks later. Parents should avoid bringing ill children. additional county conferences will be announced.
A ceremony in Pendroy on Wednesday September 27 marks the completion of the Sun River north extension. The event includes speeches from Montana Power Co REA Salt Lake City and Montana State College Bozeman, a $100 prize giveaway, races and a dance with $15 in cash prizes. Local merchants sponsor the celebration with numerous electric appliance exhibits and afternoon music by the Chateau Municipal band.
Announcement states the Dutton Sentinel will change ownership on October 6 after two years under L. L. Lyons. New editor will be Bill Lathrop, son of local owners. Miss Lyons plans to move to Seattle to take a job printing plant position.
The third quarterly meeting of the Teton county Farmers Union is set for Wednesday Sept 27 at Pendroy starting 10 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon with committee reports officer elections speakers and the election of a delegate to the state convention in Glasgow October 18 19 20 and 21. Arrangements for the Days of 49 celebration in Choteau are shaping up for next week with events on September 29 and 30. Booster trips, band participation, and free dancing with cash prizes highlight the two day celebration to support Lions club civic projects including tennis court completion and swimming pool funds.
Funeral services were held in Great Falls for Doris Lenora Baker 17. Daughter of Stella Tuman of Great Falls and Bart B. Baker of Plentywood, she was born July 25 1922 and moved to Chateau three years ago. She attended Ursuline Academy and Teton County high school and worked at Rexall Drug Store. She died Sunday morning Sept 17 from acute lycemia after hospital treatment. Survivors include five sisters and one brother.
Choteau baseball, hindered by two months of inactivity, suffered a 16 to 2 defeat at the hands of Power on the local diamond in the season finale. LeDesky and Otness worked for Choteau with Benson and Howe relieving. O'Day and Gamradt pitched and caught for Power.
