Teton County Montana officials review quarterly reports for the period ending August 31 1912. The board audits county officers including clerk treasurer sheriff and coroner approve road and tax expenditures issue warrants and set polling places. Regular sessions span September 2 3 4 5 6 with adjournments and routine financial reconciliations.
The Teton County Board moves to place a 100000 bond issue on the November 5 1912 ballot to fund highways and bridges. The plan caps interest at 4.5 percent and directs the county clerk to publish ballots. Also approved a perpetual right of way for the Chicago Milwaukee and Puget Sound Railway over Grove Street Chateau.
The text notes that individuals including Geo. Miller J.B. Webb J. W. Jameson Wim. Cowgill B. Guthrie and Larson have donated $100 each to support the Republican state campaign fund. It explains legal donation limits and the need for a popular subscription since corporations are not allowed to contribute. Donations are requested via The Acantha office.
A man calling himself Hugo Matthes was found dead Sunday afternoon in an old shed behind the Jackson block. Authorities cite acute alcoholism as the cause. he had registered as a voter, claimed to be 46, and was a German native who had lived in Montana 27 years. County Coroner Connor took charge and the body was buried at Chateau Cemetery on Monday.
Unconfirmed reports from Great Falls claim the Electrical and Power Company plans to enter Chateau and develop water power at Prent Falls of the Missouri to extend its field to include Choteau.
The three and a half month old Frey Cuas baby of Mr and Mrs Cuas of Fairfield died Monday night. It was not believed to be serious with no alarming symptoms. The burial occurred at Chateau Cemetery yesterday and the bereaved parents received many friends sympathy.

Milwaukee and Great Northern railways acquire multiple land parcels for rights of way near Choteau and file condemnation suits. New Great Falls and Teton County railroad entity forms, pushing routes through town, with transfers of Moore and Halladay tracts and a Milwaukee route plat filed with the U S land office.
The Flying U ranch near Byron sold Saturday by Butte Savings Bank to Mr. O Grady of Great Falls for 20.00 an acre. The total price reached about 100000. Milwaukee railroad plans may have influenced the sale. Once owned by F Augustus Heinze and run by Carlos Warfield, it later housed A B Look and his famed Herefords.
P Myraud longtime wool grower sold the last of his sheep yesterday to a Billings buyer. The sale totaled about a thousand head. Eyraud exits the sheep business to devote all time to farming.
The adjourned July term of the district court will convene next Wednesday and continue into the regular September term. A few criminal cases and many civil cases are expected plus fourteen applicants will seek citizenship papers. Jurors summoned include numerous residents such as Moses A Annoo, Alex Bailey, Caskey Don, Ellington J N, and more.
The Teton fair wrapped with relay wins by the Loomis and Crossen teams, a Balloon ascent canceled by high winds, and auto races halted. Prizes went to Mrs. O B Price for best display, with notable dairy and horse exhibits and a strong poultry showing amid challenging weather. The fair plans a small reserve for next year as exhibits head to Helena for the state fair.
The adjourned state board of finalization did not meet again and sees no need for another hearing. It intends to pursue a test suit to enlarge the board’s authority beyond railroad assessments to include other property classes. The board will not reconsider Oregon Short Line or Great Northern valuations from Billings to Shelby, and those protests will stand.
Farmington starts at the West school house last Monday with Mr. Bard as teacher. Families visiting include Mr. and Mrs. John Broe and Canadian relatives aboard. L. O. Satre hosts relatives. Students Olga Waynild and Magda Waynild plan to attend high school in Great Falls. Bertha Wangnild begins school near Bynum. guest Mr. Wiogr from Wisconsin. Mrs. DL O Satre hosts Ladie's Aid. C. S. Hanson recovering. Henry Hanson attends Chateau High. John Landsverk and wife at the beach. Landsverk harvests at Austad. Mary Lindseth returns from a year in Great Falls. Arthur Rognstad returns home near Conrad after months away.
Lake Basin residents and relatives visited at several ranches and towns over the weekend. James Nhoree and family visited the Richard ranch Thursday. Jefferson and Bennie went to Power Monday. Radcliff and Shoqvist hunted on the Moweree ranch Monday. Jefferson family and Carlin guests at Radcliffe Sunday. Rhodes family from Choteau spent Sunday at the basin. Carlin and wife returned from a mountains trip to Choteau Monday. Mrs Amundson and her daughters Mrs Eastwood and Mrs Anderson hosted and visited nearby towns Saturday and Monday.
The fair commissioners express gratitude to exhibitors and patrons and specially thank the department superintendents for their work on behalf of the fair.
The Democratic convention at Conrad nominated a full slate including P. J. Anderson of Conrad and Dr. Clark of Sweet Grass for Representatives Henry Ratcliffe of Fairfield for Commissioner Lee Sullivan of Cut Bank for Clerk and Recorder John I. Moore of Choteau for Clerk of the Court J M Weaver of Choteau for Sheriff K D Forrest of Dumuyer for Treasurer James S Inness for Assessor Walter L. Verve of Choteau for County Attorney James of Walier for Bar Surveyor Nellie R Brown of Chateau for Superintendent of Schools Dr Powell of Valier for Coroner and J C Perris of Collins for War Public Administrator.
The Chateau Rod and Gun Club received about 100000 trout from Tuesday for planting in nearby streams. Club members and volunteers carefully placed the speckled fish in suitable surroundings to ensure proper growth and habitat.
The sale of 16,000 acres of state land began yesterday afternoon at the courthouse under Jos Oker of the state land office. The record price reached 30 dollars per acre and the auction drew many bidders today.
