John M Weaver Sr a veteran of Teton county died Tuesday at Chateau hospital from old age infirmities. Born March 17 1862 in New York he moved to Augusta then Great Falls and finally Chateau where he helped build the Beaupre hotel and Weaver Crossen Block. Surviving children are John Jr Wallace and Elmer, funeral set for Thursday at 2 pm at Banks Funeral Home with pallbearers named.

After a county war board meeting led by J G Diamond, officials said local workers including high school students may be mobilized to harvest a large sugar beet crop in Teton county. While efforts seek nearly 100 Japanese laborers, up to 2 000 may be recruited. harvesting to begin next week if labor is available.
The Acantha reports its sale on Tuesday with Millard Bullerdick becoming the new proprietor He will end the Teton Citizen and devote full time to the Acantha Elmer Erickson remains in his current role and the departing publisher hopes for continued cordial relations with the new management
Henry Lawrence Stafford died suddenly on Sept. 16 after years of ill health. Born April 7, 1870, in Davenport Iowa, he homesteaded west of Choteau in 1914 and later ran a local real estate business. Funeral services are set for Sept. 19 with his wife Anna and daughter Mrs John Hentges accompanying his body to Iowa for burial.
Attics basements and storerooms in Chateau homes will be thoroughly rummaged for scrap metals this weekend ahead of a Monday drive. The event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce with the Victory group of the Women’s Club Boy Scouts and Cubs aiding. Trucks donated by the city and local businesses will canvass the town beginning at 1 PM. Proceeds from the sale go to the U S C. Cooperation is urged to build a strong local collection.

Mary Margaret Loch of Diamond Valley will demo Preservation of Food by Frozen Stockage at 2:08. At 3:00 p.m. Saturday 4-H members attend a Royal Theatre show sponsored by the 4-H Council. The 4-H parade forms at the Legion pavilion at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. A 4-H county council booth will sell chocolate milk coffee doughnuts hot dogs and ice cream.
School bells ring as Chateau students resume Sept 21 at 8 50 after a two week harvest delay. Registration and material issuance run Monday with two noon bells and lunch room under Mrs Depner and Mrs Burch. Faculty lists by grade and enrollment rules noted.
The Teton County Farmers Union holds its annual meeting at Greenfield Community Hall on Tuesday September 22. A banquet served by St Paul Lutheran Guild precedes the program, with chicken dressing potatoes salads and pie on the menu. Tickets cost 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children and are available from committee members. The event begins with the banquet at 1 30 PM and continues with a business session after a strong program.
