Slash Burning To Be Permitted In Forest for Specified Time
Timber harvest and road construction slash will be disposed of by burning during the next 4 to 6 weeks on the Lewis and Clark National Forest. Burning will occur only when conditions allow good combustion and smoke dispersal, and will stop when weather forecasts predict poor dispersion. The practice aims to reduce fire hazard while considering sanitation, seedbed preparation, aesthetics, and economics.

Hunters and other users are urged to be cautious as dry fall winds can raise danger on south and west slopes and ridge tops.
