Smut Control Is Good Practice For Montana Farmers
Montana farmers are urged to keep seed wheat treatment with copper carbonate as a standard practice to curb smut losses. Data show substantial smut levels in 1980 and 1931 shipments, and untreated fields in Gallatin Chouteau Judith Basin counties were over 13 percent smut. Proper mixing and community-wide treatment are essential for effective control and timely germination.
