Montana joins county institutes into three district joint sessions with teachers from Teton and nearby counties attending in Great Falls on October 22 and 23. The North Central Montana Education Association convention follows to noon Saturday. Distinguished educators from six states and several Montana leaders will speak, with sessions across Butte and Billings as well.

Refunds Issued to Chauteau Chautauqua Signers
Following a final settlement of Cha teau's 1930 chautauqua debacle a refund of 7 60 is made to each signer to the guarantee. The refund was issued Tuesday by W G Bloomdahl secretary treasurer of the chautauqua. At the time a levy of 28 was assessed against each signer.

A meeting called by County Agent Robert Clarkson will be held tomorrow afternoon at the courthouse to discuss lamb marketing and disposal of lambs. Max Legge of the Intermountain Livestock Marketing Association will present a disposal plan, with talks on feeder lamb values and contracts between feeder and fattener. The event targets sheepmen but welcomes any interested in sheep and lamb marketing.

Hunting Season Opens Sept 16 Under New Federal Law
Ducks geese and other waterfowl begin season on Sept 16 under state and federal rules. Upland birds are closed for a year except Chinese pheasants and Hungarian partridges in select counties starting Nov 23 for five days. Bag limits: ducks 15 geese 4, possession limit 25 ducks or 8 geese. Elk and deer seasons begin Oct 15 with county variations inclining to larger elk harvest in parts of Lewis and Clark and Teton counties.

Enrollment climbs at Teton High as 9 period schedule starts
Enrollment at Teton County High School reaches 206 on opening day, 17 more than last year. Freshmen total 73 while upper classes gain students from multiple communities though Power and Dutton residents are not urged to enroll. A 9 period day runs 8:30 a.m. to 4:04 p.m. with 40 minute classes and 3 minute transitions.

Dan McGorty Dies in Cabin Fire Near Chateau
Fire of unknown origin destroyed McGorty’s log cabin about 15 miles west of Chateau. His body was found amid smoldering ashes by George Cook and Coroner C. H. Connor ordered to Choteau. Authorities found no foul play. inquest undecided. McGorty, a longtime sheepman born around 1871, left a surviving son Dan Jr. and a late wife.

Dr C W Boussard a Minnesota trained DDS bought the late Dr C J B Stephens dental equipment and opened an office in the Larson block last Saturday. Born in North Dakota and raised in Minnesota he worked summers in the Butte mines while attending college. He is also a musician who played trumpet and saxophone with the Coliseum orchestra in St Paul.

Spinal Meningitis Case Reported in Choteau
County Health Officer H. W. Bateman announced a spinal meningitis case in Choteau on Wednesday. Sidney Yeager, a seventh grade student at Choteau Public School, was diagnosed and advised to gargle with antiseptic solution and take precautions to prevent spread. Principal Ruby Miller urged health measures and rest, and warned against pool exposure while promoting nutrition. The initial symptom noted is a headache.

August Tax Collections Show Decline in County Totals
The August financial report from the county treasurer shows total cash collections of 13 573.00 with August receipts of 6 737.77 and a large share 3 656.49 from investments in county sinking funds. Expenditures exceeded receipts at 10 768.68 while the grand month-end balances stood at 233 362.92 with county funds 123 614.92 and trust and agency 109 748.00. Major disbursements included 10 156.35 from general fund 8 000.00 sinking fund refunding and 7 157.50 bond interest.
