FAA Denies Water System Fund for Chateau Airport Redevelopment
The FAA allocates 29,149 for Chateau airport redevelopment under the Federal Aid Airport program for the 1966 fiscal year. Funds cover land acquisition 265, construction and marking of a northeast south west runway and relocation of lights 22,599, taxiway and apron 5,940, perimeter fencing 345. The water system request is disallowed as not justifying federal expense. A study of apron location and clear zones is required, with plans approved under the Federal Airport Act. Retired Greeley Elevator Co. manager Umphress died Friday at his Kalispell cabin. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Dutton Methodist Church with Rev Theodore Cox officiating. Interment followed at Dutton Cemetery. He lived in the Dutton area 60 years, was born in Kenton Ohio, married Genevieve Carter in Great Falls in 1916, and held offices in Dutton civic groups. Survivors include his widow, a son, a daughter, four sisters, two brothers, and four grandchildren.
