CHOTEAU FLOUR MILL DESTROYED IN MAJOR FIRE
Fire of unknown origin tore through the Chateau flour mill shortly after noon Monday, causing an estimated loss of at least ten thousand dollars to present owners the Schnug brothers. The 1907 building housed tools wheat flour and records mostly burned with the mill.

Les Thirkill, for about two years manager of the Mon arch lumber yard in Chateau, is promoted to manage the wholesale and retail yard at Butte. R. M. Graham announces the move. Thirkill expects to assume duties in about two weeks. The successor remains unnamed. The Thirkills have many friends in Chateau where they have resided, coming from Browning.

District Court Opens September Term With Naturalization Hearings
Judge R M Hattersley will preside tomorrow over civil and one criminal action at the district court starting the September term. Four applications for final naturalization papers will be heard. After adjournment the judge will visit his old home in West Virginia. Judge Clifton Co Holt of Great Falls will preside during the interval.

Sportsmen's Meeting Postponed to Discuss Open Season

Freight rates on livestock reduced to Oct 1
Emergency drought freight rates on livestock from points east to feeding areas will be continued for another month until October 1. The Northern Pacific and Great Northern announced the extension. One way rate for the round trip applies from Havre to all points on both systems. All feeding stock will be out of the area by October 1.

4-H Fair Set for September 11 With Exhibits and Programs
The 4-H fair will be held Saturday September 11 at Teton county high school with judging at 1 00 pm. FFA and U S forest service booths join the exhibits. A program from 1 15 pm includes singing demonstrations and a county dress revue followed by a Lions club dance and orchestra. Proceeds support 4 H council and delegates to Bozeman and Chicago trips. Tickets cost 50 cents. All invited to inspect youth work.

Emerson Earles and Ruth Moore wed in Boulder ceremony
Ruth Moore of this city and Emerson Earles of Pendray were married in Boulder on the 7th last month, with Rev Regan performing the ceremony. The bride, daughter of Mrs Ines Moore, has a basketball background and worked for Mountain States Tel. Co. in Chateau. Earles, son of County Commissioner W J Earls, managed Pendroy’s Rocky Mountain elevator and plans to relocate with his wife to Pendroy.

Miss Hartney Dies in Bus Accident Near Dupuyer
Katherine Hartney 55 a long time Teton County teacher died after a bus crash eight miles northwest of Pendroy near the Teton Pondera line. Investigators cited a broken front spring causing loss of control and the vehicle to roll. Hartney was trapped under a door with pelvic injuries and head wound. death attributed to shock.

Greene who long ran a Wheeler meat market plans a new shop in this city leasing the Coffey building on First street northwest. Interior and exterior are being renovated as trucks from Wheeler bring equipment to fit the opening. The Greene couple will operate a first class market offering quality products and will have living apartments upstairs. Immunization Drive Covers Several Communities
A county school immunization clinic held August 20 to 25 in Chateau August, Dutton, Power, and Fairfield saw 157 children receive the first diphtheria toxoid dose and 114 receive smallpox vaccines. County nurse Miss Hazel Anderson led the effort with Drs. Bateman, Maynard, and expertise from state health officials. A second diphtheria dose is planned with sessions September 10 to 15 at listed locations from 9 to 10 am.
