Choteau High School Band Choir Present Popular Concert

Choteau High School band and choir under Lloyd Reynolds present an 8 p.m. Sunday concert featuring George M. Cohan, Beatle tunes, film themes, and medleys. The 44 piece band and 60 member choir perform separately and together with solos by Tom Swartzel and selections from Mancini Dylan and Perry Como. The show aims for broad appeal with tunes from Roméo and Juliet to The Beatles and The Graduate.

Narcotics education program set for tonight at Chateau High

A narcotics information program will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Chateau High School auditorium with two films, a drug display, and four law enforcement officers to answer questions. Present will be Gary Hall of the Great Falls Police, Sheriff Al Becker, Joe Anderson, and Walt Hammermeister. The effort, sponsored by the Treasure State Agricultural Association, aims to discourage narcotics use in the county and northern Montana.

Reagan Outlines Legal Aid Duties for Local Lions Club

Barney Reagan of the Montana Legal Services Association spoke to the Chateau Lions Club about the Office of Economic Opportunity program providing free civil legal aid to those unable to hire a lawyer. He covers Teton Glacier Pondora and Toole counties, with 80 percent of work in Browning, and serves sparsely populated areas as a circuit rider. Residents needing help may contact Mrs. Chester Baker at the Teton County Welfare Office for interviews.

Advisory Board Formed by Extension Agent in Teton County

George M. Goodwin Teton County extension agent announced the formation of an Extension Advisory Board. The group will include 10 to 15 farmers and ranchers who know local agricultural problems and will advise the agent on areas to address. A meeting is set for next Thursday, November 6 at 7 30 p.m. at the courthouse.

Jaycees Seek Junior Miss for Teton County Pageant

The Jaycees seek high school seniors for the Junior Miss Pageant with Charles Crane as pageant chairman. Contest culminates November 30 at Chateau High School, with winner receiving a scholarship and trophy and advancing to Montana Junior Miss in Kalispell in January.

Salesman Joe Lake Dies of Heart Attack

Joe Lake, who recently moved to Chateau and worked as a salesman for Teton Motors, died of a heart attack Sunday. Funeral at 2 p.m. today in Malta. A Malta native, Lake previously lived in Wolf Point and Miles City where he was active in the Elks Lodge. Survivors include widow Gladys, sons Gerald and Bernard, daughter Myrna Sand, parents Herman and (Mrs.) Eva Lake, four brothers and a sister.

ABM Missile Site May Bring Families to Choteau

The ABM missile project near Conrad could bring 50 more families to Choteau during 1970 to 1972. Mayor Jim Dellwo said housing and trailer space are needed as 9,000 workers will help build the sites. After completion 2,400 military personnel and 690 civilians will reside in area towns, boosting local schools and services.

Panel Finds Mercury in Game Birds Not Lethal to Humans

A three member panel led by Mike Goodwin John Weigand and Dr M A Johnson told Teton County residents that mercury levels in five Hungarian Partridges found Oct 1 at 19 parts per million were not lethal to people The panel warned of unknown current human mercury levels and noted birds purge mercury slowly with time They attributed bird exposure to treated seed spilled at elevators and fields and cited potential profits from mercury treated seed wheat versus other treatments

Halloween Carnival Planned by Choteau MYF

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship of Choteau Methodist Church plans a Halloween Carnival at Choteau Park Pavilion on Friday Oct 31 starting 7 p.m. Admission is 10 cents with a spook house fortune telling make up booth sponge throw fish pond and games plus a tea room and costume parade with prizes. Toastmistresses Plan Seminar For Local Clubs

The Chateau Toastmistress Club will sponsor a Leadership Training Seminar at the Lutheran Church basement on Saturday November 15. Led by Mrs. Ralph Sluys regional Toastmistress supervisor and Mrs. Glenn Carpenter extension coordinator the program covers human relations parliamentary procedure and more. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with a no host luncheon and a $2 fee. Open to officers representatives and members of Choteau organizations.

Oldest Settlers Hold 58th Annual Meeting at Odd Fellows Hall

About 125 Teton Oldest Settlers attended the 58th annual gathering Saturday night at the Odd Fellows and American Legion halls. D. P. Fabrick presided after a turkey dinner served by Carrie Bagley and staff. Officers elected for the coming year were Marion Averill president, Harriett Morgan vice president, Gregor Tangen secretary treasurer, and Gordon Monkmay historian. Past presidents and oldest members were honored. A full report will be published next week.

Funeral services for Mrs. J A Osa M Coghill 83 of Great Falls were held Tuesday Oct 28 at Croxford Mortuary with Rev Lawrence Morley officiating.
