Oil field notes report several dry holes and a few productive wells in the Pendroy-Agawam area. Big West’s Harry Sais on No. 2 showed oil below Madison contact with water after a small oil show. further testing is underway. Hannah-Porter DuBois No. 2 yielded a 60-barrel producer at two locations NW of the Phillips-Rice No. 2, plus a 75-barrel well. Winkler and Son-Phillips-Charlotte Console in several sections reported a small oil show in tight formation and anticipate abandonment. Phillips-Hoeschen No. 1 appears to be a 35-barrel well after a 2,000 gallon acid shot. Phillips-Freda Johnson No. 6 completed to Madison contact, awaiting spudder. Texas Co. Alex Truchot No. 1 east of Agawam completed as 4 dpf? whole. Further notes show caving at Johnson producers, with cementing and expected early completion.

Six Sentencers for Various Criminal Acts
At the Teton county courthouse last Friday Judge Hattersley presiding, Norman Barker of Augusta was convicted of forgery and had a suspended sentence revoked for further offenses. Patrick Duchaire and Charles Davis were involved in a Great Northern Bus theft at Power and received one year suspensions and a one year term respectively. Barker’s April 1951 forgery conviction previously yielded a suspended sentence. Laversie Ha and Russell Bowers face charges and were held on $500 bail after a separate assault case and a burglary probe in Tooele and Tacoma. Salois is accused of taking clothing from a wreck north of Bynum. A wreck on Highway 89 near Cut Bank occurred when Jack Donald Fee drove off the road Saturday evening October 11.

Used Clothing Drive to Start at Local School
The state-wide Bundle Week drive will launch at Chateau public schools on Tuesday October 28. Principal Robert Gormley announced five day collection for wearable clothing blankets and bedding to aid children in isolated rural areas six European countries Navajo Papago Hopi reservations Korean refugees and Lebanon via Save the Children Federation. The Cho teau Methodist church also runs a drive through November 5 led by Rev. Moore and WSCS for Korean refugees.

PMA Training Meet Planned for Next Week
Final plans announced for a two day meeting to train elected county committee members for the 1953 Agricultural Conservation program. The event, chaired by Jake Luinstra, will be in Chateau court room on October 20 and 30 and run under the County PMA committee with agency reps from the Conservation Service Farmers Home Administration Forest Service and Extension Service. The first day covers the 1952 ACP program and its operation. After training, committee members will begin farm to farm contacts across about 1 080 farms in the county to discuss conservation practices and soil and water resources.

Counties to share in Lewis and Clark forest receipts
Fourteen counties will share in receipts from the Lewis and Clark national forest forest supervisor Zane G. Smith announced today. About 34 907.21 has been released to the Governor for apportionment to counties with forest land. The sum represents 25 percent of the previous year’s income for local public schools. Teton county will receive 4 407.28 from 25 percent of total receipts. An additional 10 percent of receipts for roads and trails totals 15 962.88 for all fourteen counties. These funds support roads and trails used by forest users for timber forage minerals wildlife and outdoor recreation. The report notes timber sale and grazing revenue plus land use and power permits contribute to the dollar return, though non cash benefits may exceed cash figures.

Carl Malone Injured on Ranch Near Everett Washington
Carl Malone of Chateau broke both bones of his left leg between the ankle and knee in an accident on his ranch near Everett Washington last Saturday afternoon. Malone was driving cows on horseback when the horse fell and pinned him. He is expected to be out of the hospital by press time.
